Retro Camera and FxCamera apps at the Kameha Hotel

I shot these at the hotel with my Galaxy Tab and the Android apps Retro Camera and FxCamera.  The first offers five different virtual effects (e.g., Polaroid, pinhole, etc.), and the second has HDR, some funky and Lensbaby tilt-shift effects.  Very useful, and free.  Sorry the photos are a bit boring, but I was just sitting there at breakfast, getting familiar with the tools, and later will crank it up.  All of the photos are direct from the mobile, with no editing.

High Dynamic Range B&W

Here are a few more shots of the Rhine and area around the hotel using a B&W and HDR mode in the Android app Camera360.  The effect is a somber tone, even though they were taken yesterday when it was quite pleasant outside.  Cool weather, fresh wind and a little humidity.  I sound like a grandmother. Basically, I just want to show the effects possible with this new tool.

Lovin' the Change of Seasons

It's great to be back in a region with changing seasons.  It also meant that I had to come here with every imaginable combination of clothing.  I came from Bangkok at 33C to Bonn at -8C in January.  I love hearing the birds again, and the new smells of earth and blooming flowers, because I don't have allergies ;)

Playing with HDR app on Galaxy S

Since I'm on a project in Bonn now, I have returned to photography as a hobby and "escape".  It's a lovely small city, but far from my beloved South East Asia, which I will return to later this year.

I walked around sleepy Oberkassel last night, the town where I'm staying, and experimented with a new Android app named "Camera360" with my Galaxy S.  It's a lot of fun to use, and has many valuable features.  I highly recommend it, especially because I didn't bring any serious camera on this trip.
